Where We Work :: Smiles & Hopes

An initiative to address the dental and medical needs of orphans in orphanages around Cambodia

Most Cambodian children have limited access to dental treatment and orphans are no exception. The average 5 year old in Phnom Penh has 10 decayed teeth. Dental diseases not only cause pain and infection, but also have a major impact on their quality of life, school attendance, academic achievements and leads to feelings of shame and embarrassment. All this caused by a disease that is completely preventable by the provision of an oral health care programme. Sponsorship of £500 will help to provide both oral and medical care for the orphanage for one year.

Sponsorship will provide the following services to orphans:

·        Fissure sealants
·        Fluoride varnish
·        Toothbrushes and toothpaste
·        Dental health education
·        Relief of pain
·        Treatment of permanent teeth
·        Basic personal hygiene & soap

As a sponsor you will receive:

·        A notice for your practice signifying your partnership in the programme
·        A GCDHT Cambodia logo for your practice use eg. on appointment cards.
·        A patient collection box for your reception.
·        A tri-monthly newsletter on the project for your staff and patient waiting room.

For just £500 your practice can give Cambodian orphans

Smiles and Hopes.

We hope that your practice will consider sponsoring the oral health care of orphans in Cambodia in this way. Please look at our website for further information. If you have any queries please contact info@dentaid.org
