Activities :: Dress up for Dentaid Day
THE NEXT DRESS UP 4 DENTAID DAY TAKES PLACE ON FRIDAY 11 JULY 2008
Dress Up For Dentaid Day is an annual event. The idea is to come to work in something other than your usual attire. Past participants have dressed up, dressed down or adopted a theme for the day. Dressing up incurs a donation of £1 to Dentaid, and for those who aren't willing to look silly, often a forfeit charge of £2.50 is applied! Staff should also encourage patients or customers to make a donation too, or organise a raffle or competition for the patients to participate in.
Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your day:
1. Nominate someone beforehand to co-ordinate your event
2. If you can’t do the chosen date, select an alternative day
3. Make sure that your colleagues know about the day in advance
4. Place your collection box on the reception counter so that patients and visitors can donate if they wish. Display the posters and flyers a couple of weeks in advance to give people the opportunity to donate before the event
5. It may be easier to adopt a dressing up theme, for example 70s, bad taste, pirates or tooth fairies
6. Tell the local press about your event: It could drum up some good publicity for your practice. Give the local media a call and invite them to pop in to the practice on the day to see you dressed-up. Either download the press release or write your own. You can do this before or after the event or before and after, with details of how much you raised. Send this along with photographs to your local newspaper
7. You may like to have a sponsorship event running alongside the dress-up day event. For example, one dental practice arranged for their patients’ cars to be washed during their appointment for a small donation.

8. Please tell us about your event and send us pictures. We want to see and hear about what you do. We also plan to use Dress Up for Dentaid Day pictures in the partnership newsletter and on the website as well as sending a press release to the dental press.
HAVE FUN! Dress-up Day is about raising awareness and funds for Dentaid, but we also want you all to have fun whilst doing it!
