Dentaid is giving its supporters the incredible opportunity to trek the highest peak in Northern Africa, Mount Toubkal, from September 17 – 23 2008. Reaching the summit of this beautiful mountain will give trekkers an unrivalled 360 degree view of Morocco, the Atlantic Ocean, the Sahara Desert and a feeling of immense achievement.           

The seven day adventure will also give the group the opportunity to spend a full free day to explore the colourful and vibrant city of Marrakesh. This city is full of life and will be a complete contrast to the peace of Mount Toubkal. There will also be the chance to visit the souks where the group can shop in the bustling environment, sample the local food at the food stalls and be entertained by buskers, magicians, acrobats and snake charmers in the square, Djenmma el Fna.

Although Morocco is only a few hours away from the U.K, Dentaid supporters will experience a new and exciting culture.

Our communications & fundraising manager Jenni went to     Marrakesh last year and had a wonderful time.  "The vibrancy of Marrakesh was amazing, our days in Marrakesh were a whirlwind of exotic sights and sounds.  We spent a lot of time exploring the famous Souks, often getting ourselves lost in the process! In contrast we spent a day in the peace and quiet of the Atlas mountains, climbing to reach waterfalls & experiencing the Berber culture. For those of you looking to emerse yourselves in a totally different way of life sign up today, you won't be disappointed."

 As we trek to our ultimate destination, the pyramid at the summit of Toubkal, we will be taking in the traditional Berber villages that seemingly cling to the sides of the mountains, like they are carved into the red, rugged rock. We will also see the fertile valleys and deep gorges that are part of the Toubkal National Park. The group will be accompanied by a guide, medical staff and a Dentaid representative throughout the journey. On many of the trekking days mules will also accompany us to carry a large proportion of the group’s luggage.

We are very excited to be able to offer our supporters the opportunity for an adventure like this. Climbing 4167m to reach the summit of Toubkal is no mean feat but will be an amazing experience for all involved. Our supporters always get behind our challenge events and regularly help us raise significant amounts of money that can make a real difference to the lives and oral health of so many people.

To take part in this adventure all Dentaid supporters need to do is raise £1,499 and a registration fee of £99, of which at least £600 will go to Dentaid after tour costs (plus airport taxes that will be confirmed and due for payment six weeks prior to departure).
