Volunteering in the UK
We need volunteers to assist with our operations in the UK. Please note that dental or engineering experience is not always required as there are many different ways in which you can volunteer.

Presentations
Every year, Dentaid provides lectures and seminars to dental professionals and other interested groups.
Depending on time and requirements, lectures can be developed to include the following components:- Introduction to oral health in middle and low income countries, history of intervention, alternative oral health approaches, information on Dentaid’s programmes and approaches.
Dentaid has a team of volunteer speakers all over the
If your group or organisation would like a presentation or lecture, please contact info@dentaid.org with your name, details and details of your requirements. A speaker’s fee and expenses, or a commitment to fundraise for Dentaid, will be welcomed.
We are looking for supporters from across the UK to make presentations on our behalf.
If you are a good public speaker then we would very much like to hear from you. We will be able to provide you with scripts, PowerPoint presentations and Dentaid information packs to prepare you for your talk. We can also arrange for you to visit us for the day to meet the team and hear first hand about Dentaid’s work.
For more information about becoming a Dentaid presenter please contact Rosemary Longhurst on rosemary@dentaid.org
Instrument Sorting
You'll need to be able to distinguish a Couplands from a Cryer, so a dental background is important.
We can always use a day or morning of your time helping in our Instrument Store. We send a comprehensive instrument pack with every surgery we send so any help offered is most welcome.

In the Workshop
If you are interested in helping out at our workshop with the refurbishment of dental equipment or simply in the cleaning, painting and wrapping of equipment please contact us. Engineering experience is helpful, but not as necessary as the ability to work well within a small team.

Collecting Equipment
The majority of donated equipment is collected by Lions groups local to the donating dentists. Being a volunteer collector involves working with the Lions, within their countrywide network, to transport the equipment down to us at Landford. For more details about how to donate your time to help our operation in this way please contact us.
Providing a Storage Location
You can also help us greatly by providing a storage location for equipment in transit. The availability of "half way houses" for equipment significantly increases the amount of equipment that can arrive at Landford. We have equipment currently being stored in shipping containers, garages and farm outbuildings. If you can offer this type of facility on a reasonably long term basis (longer than 1 year) then we would be pleased to hear from you.
