Oral Health Promotion :: Campaign for World Wide Smiles
In 2010 Dentaid partnered with Oral-B to launch the Campaign for World Wide Smiles.
Throughout October and November 2010, when you bought an Oral-B manual toothbrush, a donation was made to Dentaid. Funds raised by the Campaign for Worldwide Smiles will be used to fund a Dentaid project at the Sappuro Dental College & Hospital, Dhakata, Bangaldesh. The amount raised with Oral B is a fantastic £57,675, all of which is designated for this new programme.
The surgeries, portable chairs, oral health teaching aids and other items for their community oral health programme are on the MSC Savona bound for Chittagong.
We have sent out an initial grant to facilitate the setting up. Dr Hannan and his team are busy sorting out and preparing premises from which to operate, recruiting those who will be working as oral health educators, and purchasing items needed to get the programme underway. Our plan is that this will be the start of a sustainable programme that will bring enormous benefit to people who will have never before been able to see a dentist or been taught basic oral hygiene practices. pp/05/11
