Modupe’s BrightBites volunteering story
As a volunteer BrightBites Oral Health Educator, the best part of my role is the opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives. This includes not just the pupils themselves, but their teachers too. By delivering interactive sessions, I get to educate students and staff alike. This helps to reinforce their understanding of oral health and helping them build good habits.
One of my favourite moments always comes at the start of a visit, when the children greet me with enthusiasm. They often surprise me by already knowing quite a lot about teeth! It makes the session much more interactive and fun, their curiosity and previous knowledge really enrich the experience.
To me, oral health education is essential for children because habits formed at an early age often last a lifetime. Getting it right now is one of the best things we can do for their future, it’s an investment in lifelong wellbeing.
