Charity oral health educator
6 month temporary contract September 2024 – March 2025
Salary £22k-25k FTE (£11,000 - £12,500)
Dentaid The Dental Charity is looking for oral health educators to deliver its BrightBites oral health education programme on a full-time 6-month contract. This role involves visiting schools, nurseries and community projects with a focus on communities experiencing health inequalities and social exclusion. Working with our BrightBites co-ordinator and complementing our existing BrightBites volunteers, you’ll develop and deliver a busy programme of sessions across the UK and closer to home. You’ll provide our lively, interactive oral health presentation, supervise oral health activities and answer children’s questions. Full training will be provided and we’ll give you resources including toothbrushes, toothpaste and leaflets to distribute to every child.

Mobile dental unit officers
Our mobile dental unit officers drive our charity dental units to locations across the UK. They assist our clinical supervisors with setting up and packing away clinics, help our patients and help ensure our charity dental clinics run smoothly. Applicants must have a C1 endorsement and be able to drive vehicles up to 7,500kg. This role involves day trips from our base near Southampton and longer trips across the UK for which accommodation and expenses will be provided. Our mobile dental unit officers play a crucial role in helping us provide dental care for people experiencing homelessness and other hard-to-reach groups, so a compassionate approach is essential.

Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to assist with basic maintenance at our Totton headquarters and on our fleet of mobile dental units. We need people with DIY skills and a desire to undertake a hands-on role. No engineering qualifications are necessary but those with and electrical or mechanical background are very welcome.
