Dental Directory donation supports Dentaid’s overseas work

Thousands of pounds’ worth of crucial dental supplies have been donated to support Dentaid’s overseas work throughout 2026.

Equipment ranging from hand burs to PPE, wipes, oral hygiene solutions and more, was kindly supplied by Dental Directory for use during our visits to Uganda, Cambodia, and Malawi, delivering essential dental treatment to local communities.

The donation was facilitated by the Bupa Foundation, with several Bupa clinicians volunteering their time and talents to provide this vital care – which wouldn’t otherwise be accessible to individuals and families in these remote regions.

Dentaid’s work overseas in 2025 led to 4,889 adults and 5,963 children getting access to life-changing dental care. 68 dental professionals were involved in six trips, working alongside local dentists and NGOs to run dental clinics in prisons, orphanages, refugee camps, community centres, churches, schools and remote villages. Many of those who visited the clinics had not seen a dentist before and it wasn’t uncommon for teams to treat upwards of 100 or even 200 people a day.

Volunteer dental professionals from Dentaid also gave oral health education lessons to children at schools and provided them with a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Gail Taylor, Uganda Overseas Coordinator for Dentaid, commented: “We give heartfelt thanks to Dental Directory for their generosity in supplying equipment to Dentaid’s overseas programme in 2026.

Sourcing dental supplies to serve in excess of 8,000 people overseas each year has been increasingly difficult. This gift will be invaluable in allowing us to provide important clinics in remote areas where access to dentistry is scarce and people face huge barriers in getting support for their oral health issues.

“We’re also thankful that Bupa Dental are supporting us once more with volunteers joining our teams throughout 2026.

“Our projects are designed to make a lasting impact to the oral health of people in the countries we visit and this donation will help us to achieve that.”
