Attendees of our Truxton Circuit race-day

Dentaid’s First-ever Race Day Raises Over £7,000

Dentaid’s first-ever race day took place at Thruxton Circuit in Hampshire in early September. The high-speed event attracted motorsport enthusiasts, dental industry professionals, and corporate supporters who came together to put the pedal to the metal for a good cause. The race day raised an impressive £7,696.60 for the charity.

The day began with a briefing from a racing instructor to ensure everyone was well-prepared before they took to the track. An introductory lap was taken in a Ford Puma ST to learn the circuit before upgrading to a sleek and speedy Porsche Cayman. For the final round, the guests were strapped into a Formula Renault single-seater racing car, for a driving experience they will never forget. The morning’s racing experience was followed by an afternoon of competitive go-karting in Thunderkarts that reached speeds of more than 60mph.

Michael Cann, managing director at Septodont UK was one of the drivers: “The day has been great; I’ve really enjoyed it, and the weather has been perfect. The best part was seeing what normal cars can do on a racetrack and getting to drive a single-seater. Septodont is very involved with Dentaid. Our office is the basis for the Kent hub and it’s nice to come out, do something different, and see people in a different setting.”

George Western account executive at insurance provider Lloyd & Whyte and Dentaid ambassador added: “This was my first time on a track in a single-seater high speed vehicle which was exhilarating. The highlight for me was the go-karting in the afternoon because it’s a race against your fellow colleagues! Supporting Dentaid The Dental Charity allows me to have a different perspective on the industry and makes me feel like I’m actually giving back.”

Our Thruxton Circuit race day was supported by key partners from the dental industry, and the proceeds raised will go towards funding outreach dental clinics for vulnerable people in our communities. The clinics provide essential dental support to families experiencing poverty, survivors of domestic abuse, victims of modern-day slavery and human trafficking, and people experiencing homelessness. Dentaid’s mobile dental units visit shelters, soup kitchens, food banks, and community hubs across the UK providing essential care to those in pain with nowhere else to turn.
