Marshall’s story
I noticed that I had an extra tooth growing out from the rear upper left side of my mouth. I didn’t know if it was going to cause an issue or not. But the dentist said it may do in future because of the build up of bacteria and I didn’t want that to happen. I also have some issues with the bottom set of teeth as well.
They’ve not been hurting me pretty bad but it does come and go, I do feel discomfort sometimes.
I fell on hard times a few months back with homelessness and drug issues, using ketamine sometimes, it’s been tough. I was 14 years old when I last saw a dentist, so around eight years ago. My dad told me I should get myself checked sooner but to be honest I was too lazy. I’m glad I’ve got it today though.
I was pretty scared at first, being on the unit, but it ended up being alright in there. I didn’t even feel my tooth being pulled out.
I feel in a much better mindset now because it’s going to be a lot cleaner now and allow me to be a lot healthier.
I’m not well off and in my instance it’s been eight years since I’ve seen a dentist, for people like me they might never get the chance to see one, so having this service is a really great way for people in our communities to get support.
