Partner with us

Thank you for visiting this page to find out more about partnering with Dentaid The Dental Charity.

We welcome project enquiries from potential partners, other charities, local councils and statutory bodies who would like to offer mobile outreach dental care for the vulnerable communities they support.

This page gives some basic information about how we work and the chance for you to tell us more about your requirements and the people you help.  Once we’ve received it, we’ll get in touch with more details and look to set up a call so we can start to find a way to work together.

Who we help

In the UK Dentaid The Dental Charity works alongside partner organisations and other charities to run regular, sustainably funded mobile dental clinics for their clients and service users.

Our outreach dental clinics help people experiencing homelessness, survivors of abuse, families in poverty, refugees, cancer patients, people recovering from addiction and communities where people facing health inequalities are struggling to access dental care. These clinics are not open to members of the general public and are specifically provided for the partner organisations we work with.

How our mobile dental clinics work

We work with project partners and other charities to provide clinics at a venue that your service users frequently attend or reside, for example hostel or supported accommodation, day centres, drop-in services or inclusion healthcare events.  We can work on a drop-in or flexible appointment basis.

Clinics are four hours in duration and we can usually see between 6-10 patients in this time.  The mobile dental unit will be accompanied by a team of 4 -  a clinical supervisor and an MDU (Mobile Dental Unit) Officer from Dentaid, alongside a volunteer dentist and a volunteer dental nurse.

Practical requirements

There are a few practical requirements, including level parking for a vehicle measuring 10m long by 4m wide and access to a room inside the venue where our clinical supervisor can take patients' medical histories face to face before they go onboard the unit.

We work closely with our project partners and ask them to create a patient list for the day. We also ask that they designate a member of staff to help organise patients and support the smooth running of the clinic.

Treatments we provide

During clinics we can provide x-rays, fillings, extractions, oral cancer checks, scale and polish and fluoride varnish. We are unable to provide orthodontics, implants, dentures or root canal treatment. We can also prescribe antibiotics and provide onward referrals into secondary care for issues such as more complex wisdom tooth extractions or suspicious lesions identified during oral cancer screenings.
